In the first half of 2024, the global primary aluminum production increased by 3.9% year on year


According to date from the International Aluminum Association, global primary aluminum production increased by 3.9% year on year in the first half of 2024 and reached 35.84 million tons. Mainly driven by increased production in China. China’s aluminum production increased by 7% year on year from January to June, reached 21.55 million tons, production in June was the highest in nearly a decade.

The International Aluminum Association estimates that China’s aluminum production was 21.26 million tons from January to June, increased by 5.2% year on year.

According to date from the International Aluminum Industry Association, aluminum production in Western and Central Europe rose 2.2%, touch to 1.37 million tons. While production in Russia and Eastern Europe rose 2.4%, reached 2.04 million tons. Gulf area production increased by 0.7%, reached 3.1 million tons. The International Aluminum Industry Association said, global primary aluminum production rose 3.2% year on year to 5.94 million tons in June. The average daily output of primary aluminum in June was 198,000 tons.
