Hydro reduces capacity at some mills due to the Coronavirus

Due to a coronavirus outbreak, Hydro is reducing or stopping production at some mills in response to changes in demand. The company said in a statement on Thursday (March 19th)  that it would cut output in the automotive and construction sectors and reduce output in southern Europe with more sectors.

The company said that with the impact of the coronavirus and government department taking action to combat the impact of the coronavirus, customers have begun to reduce their production.

This impact is currently most pronounced in the automotive industry, construction industry, and southern Europe. As a result, Extruded Solutions is reducing and temporarily closing some activities in France, Spain and Italy.

The company added that a reduction or shutdown of the mill may result in temporary layoffs.
