Introduction to the Classification and Application Fields of 7 Series Aluminum Materials

According to the different metal elements contained in aluminum, aluminum can be divided into 9 series. Below, we will introduce the7 series aluminum:

Characteristics of 7 series aluminum materials:

Mainly zinc, but sometimes a small amount of magnesium and copper are also added. Among them, ultra hard aluminum alloy is an alloy containing zinc, lead, magnesium, and copper with a hardness close to that of steel. The extrusion speed is slower than that of the 6 series alloy, and the welding performance is better. 7005 and 7075 are the highest grades in the 7 series and can be strengthened by heat treatment.

Application scope: aviation (load-bearing components of aircraft, landing gear), rockets, propellers, aerospace vehicles.

7005 extruded material is used to manufacture welded structures that require both high strength and high fracture toughness, such as trusses, rods, and containers for transportation vehicles; Large heat exchangers and components that cannot undergo solid fusion treatment after welding; It can also be used to manufacture sports equipment such as tennis rackets and softball sticks.

7039 Freezing containers, low-temperature equipment and storage boxes, fire pressure equipment, military equipment, armor plates, missile devices.

7049 is used for forging parts with the same static strength as 7079-T6 alloy but requiring high resistance to stress corrosion cracking, such as aircraft and missile parts – landing gear hydraulic cylinders and extruded parts. The fatigue performance of the parts is roughly equivalent to that of 7075-T6 alloy, while the toughness is slightly higher.

7050 aircraft structural components use medium thick plates, extruded parts, free forgings, and die forgings. The requirements for alloys in the manufacturing of such parts are high resistance to peel corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, fracture toughness, and fatigue resistance.

7072 air conditioner aluminum foil and ultra-thin strip; Coating of 2219, 3003, 3004, 5050, 5052, 5154, 6061, 7075, 7475, 7178 alloy sheets and pipes.

7075 is used for manufacturing aircraft structures and futures. It requires high stress structural components with high strength and strong corrosion resistance, as well as mold manufacturing.

7175 is used for forging high-strength structures for aircraft. T736 material has excellent comprehensive performance, including high strength, resistance to peeling corrosion and stress corrosion cracking, fracture toughness, and fatigue strength.

The 7475 fuselage is made of aluminum coated and uncoated panels, wing frames, beams, etc. Other components that require both high strength and high fracture toughness.
